It’s a quieter year than last year, so this reminds me to get busy and contact clubs and festivals for future bookings before I fade away into “legendary” status! If you know of clubs and festivals who would appreciate my music, please let me know (or tell them about me).

The Festival in the Shire, from 13 – 15 August where we will be celebrating all things Tolkien-esque. Rick Wakeman is the headline act, and it’s in Pontrhydfendigaid, near Aberystwyth in beautiful Ceredigion.

Folk Against Fascism
The British National Party has recently been appropriating British folk music, customs and culture as a means of spreading their racist policies. They are selling traditional music through their Excalibur merchandising arm, despite the protestations of many of the artists included, who find their policies abhorrent.
I am strongly opposed to the misappropriation of our traditional music for this purpose. While I celebrate our national traditions in my music, song and stories
• I will never knowingly permit my music to be used for racist purposes, and if you ever find it being so used please tell me.
• I wish to make it quite plain that, regardless of my love for British traditional music, dance, song and customs, I DO NOT support or endorse the BNP or any of its policies – in fact I find them abhorrent.
There are Folk Against Fascism groups on Facebook and MySpace, and there will be a website in due course which will have details of further plans. I will put a link to it as soon as I have it, but in the meantime please also consider signing the Hope Not Hate petition
