A Twist in the Story -CD
A Twist in the Story -CD
This new album features Anne Lister’s songs based on some lesser-known Welsh folk tales, as well as some true stories, some songs inspired by the work she did running storytelling workshops for prisoners, and two songs hitherto only available on her very first album “Burnt Feathers”. You’ll meet Polly Williams from Trevethin, who danced with the fairies, a fisherman whose singing voice won the heart of a mermaid, a young man who had a whole host of white animals and King Herla, still riding the Herefordshire marches and waiting to get off his horse as well as Irving Pollard from Coventry, a ghost from a women’s prison and Merlin.

Waiting for the Hero -CD
Waiting for the Hero -CD
Waiting for the Hero is Anne’s sixth solo album. In the course of the fourteen songs on the album we meet various dancing creatures, including a minister who saw fairies, a dragon and a small black cat … we revisit a few fairy tales including a rather embittered Cinderella … we muse on the nature of love, heroism and patriotism and yes, there’s a small collection of ancient Greeks, as well. As a bonus there is an arrangement of the traditional ballad of “Silkie”, which Anne has been wanting to record for years.
